Benefits to Having a Private Concierge Therapist
I am a Private Concierge Therapist. This means I am highly specialized in the areas that I work in, and only take on a select amount of clients on my caseload at a time. I do this in order to avoid burnout so I can devote 100% to my clients that I take on. I make sure to over deliver to each and every one of you. When you are in session with me, you are getting all of me. I am not rushing you. I am not checking my phone. I remember all the names of your exes, and when your birthday is. I am capable of doing this because I don’t have 30 to 40 clients piled onto my caseload to make ends meet. True story; insurance companies are monsters and barely compensate those in my field for their work (sorry, not sorry, they suck.) Plain and simple, I do NOT accept insurance.
Here are a few reasons I don’t accept insurance:
I am not in network with any insurance companies. I decided not to be in network with insurance companies for multiple reasons. They require therapists to label their clients with a mental health diagnosis, control the number of sessions a client can have, and have unlimited access to a client’s records, limiting privacy. I decided from the beginning of opening my private practice that I wanted my clients to be in control of their counseling journey, NOT insurance companies.
Insurance companies take control. Like I mentioned before, often insurance companies will dictate how long your sessions must be (Why does she need a 50 minute session? We’re only going to pay for 35 minutes,) how often (Four times a week? No, he only needs it once a month,) and demand detailed client notes for payment that often get sent back and denied anyway (aka Clawbacks, policies that are as obnoxious as they sound.) By ditching insurance companies all together, you and I make choices that are best for you.
I want to avoid burnout. If I’m burnt out with seven to eight patients a day to cover costs (yeah, that’s how cheap insurance companies are) that’s not a very good example to show you and it’s not quality care at all. It’d be a mess for you as a client and a mess for me. I avoid insurance companies all together and charge the rate I need to support myself, which in turn allows me to give you my all.

Ultimately, I choose not to accept insurance because I feel it’s not the best way to serve myself and my clients. If I’m going to practice what I preach, I need to do what’s best for me. And if I can be my best self (all together now,) that makes me the best possible therapist to serve you.
Ready to serve yourself in the best way possible? I know you deserve it. Let me help you realize you do too!
Personal development is the belief that you are worth the effort, time and energy needed to develop yourself.
